Finally caught up with the episodes of Lost which I had missed.

I want answers and I want them soon, I can't believe that half the season is over already.

Regarding the Ana Lucia episode, I'm now sorry I criticized that show for lacking a strong female lead, I got what I wished for, Mary Stu.

I cringe at what direction they will be taking Ana Lucia!

I wish I could enjoy Sawyer more, but his character gives me a sense of deja vu. He is a walking cliche, the bad boy the audience wants to see reformed. For those who have seen Firefly/Serenity, is there any difference between Sawyer and Jayne? Yes I know they come from different time periods and Jayne still has his parents, but besides that.

The Sawyer gets shot, plotline reeked of something out of a hurt comfort fanfic.

I'll continue watching Lost, but I will keep a very close eye on that shark with the Dharma initiave logo on it. What did kill the pilot in that first episode? Why is Locke suddenly able to walk again? Whatever happened to French Lady? How is she related to The Others? How are the others related to the Dharma Initiave? Why did she try to take Claireling? Why do the characters have names like Locke, Sayer etc?

You don't consider Kate to have been a strong female lead?

I consider the character of Kate strong, as was demonstrated when she escaped prison, and set her step-father on fire. However, she is not one of the leaders on the island, she is one of the followers, and in terms of acting is part of the supporting cast.

While there have been one or two occasions where she has taken chage, such as when Jack and Charlie were trapped during a cave in and she insisted that they dig to get him out, she usually is not the one responsible for critical decisions, telling the rest of the cast aways what to do, as is done by Jack and Locke.

Last season I thought the show needed a strong female leader, a woman who was telling people what to do and responsible for critical decisions. This season we got it in the form of Ana Lucia, leader of the tailiways.

I think Ana Lucia is an awful character -- and I was watching the first couple of episodes and Kate had the potential to be one of the leaders, but sort of slipped away from the role, probably because Jack stopped trusting her.

Ana Lucia is an awful character, filled with angst and irksome moral ambiguity. It doesn't help that they wrote out someone we were just getting used to, Shannon, to make room for her. Seasoned TV writers should know that replacements rarely if ever work. In addition the idea of another group on the island is starting to push the boundaries of my suspension of disbelief. Maybe I would have liked her more if she had been one of the original castaways.

Part of the reason why Ana Lucia was brought on is because they seem to have messed up in many ways with Kate.

The role would have been better suited to an actress who could have done a better job with the toughness needed for the character. Evangeline Lilly isn't bad, but I just don't buy her as the unpredictable potential villain. Are we supposed to be afraid of Kate? I think someone like Alyson Hannigan, or Amy Acker would have done much better, have proven that they can go from innocent and unthreatening to outright psychotic and frightening.
