For years I've been anti filling my LJ profile with all JPEGS, animated gifs, etc.

But I found,

designed by [livejournal.com profile] flutter_designs and the low budget obscure 80s cartoon junkie in me just couldn't help herself.

I mean this has all of my favorite toons from the 80s, which were shown in the mornings, on what was I think channel 9, or may have been channel 11. They have the Punky Brewster cartoon, where Punky had the furry little magical friend, whose name I forget. However I grew up without cable, and never saw the live action show, but have fond memories of the animated version.

They have the popples, loved the toys, enjoyed the few episodes of the toon I was able to see on DVD.

My Little Pony, the 80s toon version, have vague memories of that one, remember one storyline about some purple thing which destroyed Dream Castle. There was also another episode where one of the ponies, wished it would "never rain again," it didn't, and Ponyland learned about drought. Come to think of it, Ponyland wasn't quite the utopia one would expect.

Care Bears, I don't remember much of, and while I had a Strawberry Shortcake doll once, I don't remember much about the actual toon.

That's a really cute banner, even though the only show on there that I was a huge fan of was Rainbow Brite, hehe. I liked the Care Bears toys and the Strawberry Shortcake toys, but not the cartoons.

Were the cartoons ever on TV, or were they straight to video. I remember Rainbow Brite, but don't remember ever actually watching it on TV, only on VHS tapes.

Also don't remember the Care Bears cartoon too well, agree, loved the toys, not the toons.

Rainbow Brite was on tv, they had a movie too cause I saw it along with the Care Bear movies. I think a trip to imdb might solve the question of Punkys friend.

Yes, that was his name, Glomer. Punky Brewster isn't the same without him!

Ah, do you remember what network Rainbow Brite was on? I grew up in a "cable free," house, so if it wasn't on broadcast TV, I didn't get to see it.

If you saw Punky Brewster when it was live action rather than animation, trust me, Glomer can be lived without. I didn't like him. Rainbow Brite I thought was on network tv, because it was on before cable before really big.
