Must admit, the ending was a bit of a disappointment. As others on SZ have said, that it seemed like a "The Next Generation" fic off fanfiction.net. When teenagers write fic about the children of characters on shows like Buffy, Charmed, and Harry Potter, it is one thing, but when one of the most successful novelists of our time does it is another.

Must admit I feel bad for the Harry/Hermione fans, did she have to rub it in like that? That epilogue was not needed. It would not be bad to leave people speculating as to what would happen twenty years down the line. I really would have preferred an epilogue dealing with events one year later.

I understand why she had to kill off Fred, I know from the moment she made identical twins significant characters that was inevitable. I'm glad they didn't kill off Ron, as had been said in fake spoilers. A move like that would have made it difficult to reread Harry Potter, and would have deterred me from seeing the movies. Although I have mixed feelings about Lupin and Tonks, who were killed off at the last minute, in an unnecessary, Whedonesque move.

Also thinking of the Weasleys, was I the only one thinking that poor Charlie had gone to the land of Judy Winslow and Chuck Cunningham?

I agree with those who wanted to see more closure as to what happened with Wizarding society. How did the Weasleys deal with the death of Fred? How did it affect George, his twin brother?

What were the immediate ramifications of the deaths of Tonks and Lupin? Who was the one to raise Tommy? What kind of a life did he end up leading?

How was wizarding society restored? Who was in charge of it?

Did Harry, Hermione, and Ron return to Hogwarts the next year to get their degrees, or did they just get honorary NEWTS?

As for Dumbledore, I like how they explained some of the flaws in the character, but I would have preferred a bit more of Harry questioning Dumbledore's motivations.

Dumbledore is the Harry Potter equivalent of Lost's John Locke, ultimately out for what he perceives to be the greater good, and to some extent power. Both characters are willing to manipulate others as a means to achieve this end.

Loved the fact that the brother had issues with him, and in all honesty, it would have been interesting if Rowling had created a few other characters who had the same feelings towards him. Be interesting if there were someone in the ministry who was out to help Harry, but had serious issues with Dumbledore and his motivations.

Nice that only the Horcrux in Harry was destroyed, without killing Harry in the process. However Dumbledore essentially admitted that he trained Harry for his "ultimate destiny," to slay Voldemort. As Snape said, he was the equivalent of a slaughtered pig. Couldn't think of any alternative to getting those Horcruxes destroyed?

Kingsley was in charge, of course!
