Oh god, 1:55 AM and not even a Yes, I have my monents when I want to see a bit more cultural sci fi on Doctor Who, but not to extent of episodes like the one I'm watching now. Random redshirt young boy loses his mother on a mission, Worf wants to bond with boy, he lost his parents at a young age too. Of course Troi gives him a speech about how humans grieve differently than Klingons. Then we get a scene of Bev and Wesley Crusher talking about the death of daddy dearest, and of course, the supportive speech by Picard.
Alien from planet where random redshirt boy grew up appears as boy's mother, saying they can keep the kid happy. But the crew manages to convince alien that loss is part of human life and that the boy needs to stay on the Enterprise. I think I need some insulin.
Maybe South Park will help!
